Final Fantasy VIII – mostra Squall Leonhart e Seifer Almasy, studenti del Garden di Balamb (accademia militare che addestra un gruppo mercenario elitario di nome SeeD), scontrarsi in un duello di Gunblade a scopo di allenamento.
Contemporaneamente, l’esercito di Galbadia (nazione militarista del continente occidentale) invade il piccolo Stato del Ducato di Dollet con l’intento d’impadronirsi della sua Torre di Trasmissione.
Sfruttando lo scontro tra le due forze in causa come esame, il Garden di Balamb, sotto la supervisione di Quistis Trepe e altri insegnanti, invierà Squall e gli altri candidati Seed (tra cui Zell Dincht, Selphie Tilmitt e lo stesso Seifer) in missione contro Galbadia.

Final Fantasy VIII – shows Squall Leonhart and Seifer Almasy, students of the Garden of Balamb (military academy who trains an elite mercenary group called SeeD), clashing in a Gunblade duel for training purposes.
At the same time, the army of Galbadia (militaristic nation of the western continent) invades the small state of the Duchy of Dollet with the intent to seize its Transmission Tower.
Taking advantage of the confrontation between the two forces involved as an exam, Balamb Garden, under the supervision of Quistis Trepe and other teachers, will send Squall and the other Seed candidates (including Zell Dincht, Selphie Tilmitt and Seifer himself) on a mission against Galbadia.
